About Ängsö National Park

Ängsö National Park offers a species‑rich and varied cultural landscape. In spring and early summer, the meadows burst into colour, with blooming hay meadows, grazed pastures and pollarded trees. The park is located in the Stockholm archipelago, in the heart of the Roslagen region.

Ängsö National Park consists of a beautiful agricultural landscape in an archipelago setting, with all the floral splendour that the Roslagen archipelago is known for. As a national park, it is unusual: a cultivated landscape from the 19th century, well‑preserved and exceptionally authentic.

During spring and early summer, the meadows and pastures are in full bloom. But Ängsö is more than that. The varied nature with deciduous groves, old coniferous forest and sea inlets offers popular nesting places for birds, and part of the island is a bird protection area.

Ängsö is, in terms of area, one of the smallest national parks in the country.

Ängsö is one of Sweden’s first national parks, established in the early 1900s.
