Staying in the park
Here you’ll find information about accommodation options in and around Björnlandet National Park.
In the national park, you can either camp or spend the night in one of the simple overnight huts.
Overnight huts
There are two overnight huts in the park: Angsjökojan and Svärmorskojan which you can stay in for free. The huts cannot be booked in advance.
- Angsjökojan – The cabin is beautifully located by Lake Angsjön along the Angsjöleden and Guldbäcksleden trails. From the Angsjö entrance it is about one kilometre to the cabin via Angsjöleden.
- Svärmorskojan – This hut stands next to the small lake Svärmorstjärn along the Svärmors Trail. If you walk the trail anticlockwise from the Angsjö entrance, it is about six kilometres to the hut.
Information and Rules
Each hut has bed space, blankets and pillows for six people. There are also extra mattresses and floor space if you bring your own sleeping mat.
The huts are equipped with a frying pan, coffee kettle, cooking pots and candle holders. You will also find a wood-burning stove and kerosene lamps.
You need to bring your own candles, matches and any other equipment you want for your stay.
The water in the lakes and streams has a yellow‑brown colour but is completely drinkable. You can also bring drinking water from the cold spring at the Angsjö entrance or melt snow in winter.
The huts are unlocked and free to use. If the hut is full, visitors are expected to welcome newcomers and at least make space on the floor. If you have already spent one night, please offer your place to someone who has just arrived.
As a visitor, you clean up after yourself and bring in firewood from the woodshed for the next guest. Don’t forget to split kindling that is easy to start a fire with.
Dogs are allowed in the huts.
Camping in the park
You are allowed to camp in most parts of Björnlandet National Park. In different areas of the park, zone specific rules apply.
- Zone 1 – Entrance Zone: You may camp near Angsjökojan and on the stretch between the hut and the Angsjö entrance (this point is marked on the park map).
- Zone 2 – Activity Zone: Camping is allowed outside the trail corridor, which extends 100 metres on each side of the marked trails.
- Zone 3 – LowActivity Zone: Camping is allowed throughout the entire zone.
