Part of the Laponia World Heritage Site

In 1996, the Laponia World Heritage Site was designated by UNESCO. Muddus/Muttos National Park is part of Laponia together with the national parksPadjelanta/Badjelánnda, Stora Sjöfallet/Stuor Muorkke and Sarek.

Laponia also includes the nature reserves Sjávnja/Sjaunja and Stubbá/Stubba, as well as the areas Sulidälbmá, Tjuoldavuobme and Ráhpaäno suorgudahka (the Lájtávrre Delta).
