You can do the walk all year round but note that the trail often runs next to Kävsjön's bird sanctuary, which you’re not allowed to enter between March 1 and August 15. The bird sanctuary is marked with yellow signs. The trail runs mostly through forests; some are open pine forests and others are dense spruce forests. The trail has detours to several bird towers where you have a view of Kävsjön and its surrounding quagmire. On the eastern side of the lake, the trail reaches the raised bog itself for a shorter section. The trail runs on both board walks and uneven forest paths that can have a lot of tree roots.

The hike can be started at four different entrances: naturum, Kävsjö, Svänö and Östra Rockne. The trail passes several rest areas in the park.
